Willie Stradlin is a Red Dirt/Southern Rock band from Northwest Arkansas. They have been together since late 2005. The name was derived from their heroes, Willie Nelson and Izzy Stradlin (formerly of Guns and Roses). They are heavily influenced by the Texas/Oklahoma Red Dirt scene, and bring to the genre their own brand of rowdy southern Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The Rattling Wheel is the fifth CD release from Australian singer-songwriter, Derrin Nauendorf. This came as a surprise to me from the moment I heard Derrin’s resonant guitar tones on the album opener, "Universe Demands." How had I not heard of this guy before?

Scotland Barr and the Slow Drags is a Portland, Oregon band that is redefining “Roots” by exploring their own. This is a roots-rock band that is as likely to draw inspiration from The Beach Boys and Warren Zevon as they are from Merle Haggard or Gram Parsons. Jangly pop, gut-bucket country, urban folk, 60’s psychedelia and straight up rock collide in a mid-air collision, creating a compelling clamor that has been called “West Coast Roots.”

Richie Furay, a founding member of 60's icon bands Buffalo Springfield and Poco, and once part of David Geffen's answer to CSN in the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band.

The Buddah Box is a comprehensive look at a lot of the hits that the label were responsible for. This includes not only the Buddah label proper, but also Kama Sutra, Sussex, and countless other labels under the Buddah umbrella (ella ella eh).

She is what we call in Dutch a ééndagsvlieg. translate: (One Day Fly) or a One Hit Wonder. I have this Lp in my own private collection, but no be able to rip my own vinyls. I was suprised to find a rip at the Internet (thanks to mike the original uploader) form this great album. As far as I know it's never brought on cd. This is pure nostalgie from my youth, special the song 100 Years peaked for three weeks at number one in the Dutch charts. Anyway it's good to share some hard to find music classics on AvaxHome.. ;-)

This german rockmusician and songwriter – who died with only 43 years in 1998 - and his band created ambitioned and fantastic songs! Somebody said, that “Gundermann is the Springsteen from East Germany”. I don’t know, if it is the truth, but their musician styles are similar and both are hard workers. Even if you don’t understand the lyrics in german, it is although a very fine arranged music.

I got into trouble the last time I tried to write about Bleu Edmondson. Seems his fans took exception to things I said about him. So I figured I’d go on down the road and forget about it. Then I screwed up and bought his latest CD. And I can’t forget about it. Bleu won’t let me. Damned boy writes too good a song to forget about it.

If you like your music nice and neat and fitting within a particular predictable genre or style, then stay far, far away from Canadian roots-rock duo Twilight Hotel.

This debut record from Chris Brecht threads a highway between folk, country, indie, and the 1960s. Influenced by Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, Brecht takes off from there to create space for his own words and music. He vividly illustrates the promise of a young songwriter. A 5-star debut, 'The Great Ride' is where Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty slip away to drop bennies and dig poetry. Analog Alternative-Country the way it should be.
