While by no means the first of Australia's outdoor rock festivals, for better or worse, Sunbury soon assumed the mantle of "Australia's Woodstock". It was held at the end of January, 1972, over the Australia Day long weekend. The venue was a natural amphitheatre site on farmland near Sunbury, a rural town north of Melbourne, Victoria. The Aztecs shared billing with Spectrum/Murtceps, The La De Das, Max Merritt & the Meteors, SCRA, Pirana, Greg Quill's Country Radio and many others.

Jimi Hendrix - In The West
MP3 @ 320 | 96 MB | Full Covers included
Genre: Rock

I referred to this album in an earlier Hendrix post. Released in 1971, it culled tracks from 3 west coast concerts and was one of the better releases in the years close to his death. It contains some great performances, most notably "Little Wing", which is just beautiful, the best version that I have heard.

It is also very rare, deleted not long after release and only given a limited brief CD release.

Roy Harper - Folkjokeopus 1969
MP3 @ 224-320 | 458 MB | Covers included
Genre: Singer / Songwriter

Eccentric, prolific British singer/songwriter Roy Harper is a legend on the U.K. folk-rock scene. He began recording in the late 1960s, as something of a cross between Bob Dylan's troubadourism and Syd Barrett's freewheeling, wild-eyed visions. Though Harper has had an impact on British rockers who gained greater fame (he's feted in Led Zeppelin's "Hats Off To Roy Harper," sings lead on Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar," and was a
major influence on Jethro Tull), his mix of folk and prog-rock has earned him a niche all his own in the pantheon of British songwriters.

Free - Fire And Water 1970
MP3 @ 192 | 87 MB | Covers included | repost
Genre:Rock

In June 1970 Free had established their reputation as one of the greatest stripped back rock acts, with two albums and constant touring under their belt. The combination of Paul Rodgers (one of the best vocalists of all time, Bad Company and now with Queen), Paul Kossoff (the guitarist died of drug related heart problems at the tender age of 25) and Simon Kirke (drummer of Bad Company) would ensure that they would never be forgotten. Their third album, Fire and Water is unique in their repertoire, as a consistently great album, the first that was self-produced, yielding much bickering as a result, but incredible nevertheless: rough, blues oriented music, soul-inspired vocals, it’s got to be on the shelf of any serious rock fan.
