This is not meant to be a complete Fela Kuti discography. It is a selection of 18 different albums recorded and released between 1971-1981. Many of these albums feature one song, at 25 or more minutes in duration.

That Duke was able to record this prolifically over such a relatively short period of time-the first session was in April, 1971, the final one January, 1976-while he remained busy as a sideman with Cannonball Adderley and Frank Zappa and as an increasingly in-demand session player, gave him the opportunity to evolve at the kind of pace that's difficult to match today...

This is the fourth studio album from Lemar, the first man in noughties British soul. As we've come to expect from the smooth Tottenham-born ex-Fame Academy student, 'The Reason' is a slinky affair, with songs such as 'Mayday' and 'If She Knew' standing out as examples of his ballad mode. The release also sees Lemar return to his harder soul roots with the sessions benefiting from an array of producers. Jack Splash, Salaam Remi and Jim Johnson were all behind the glass, contributing to an album that sees Lemar move a step closer to an American RnB sound.

The press may have dubbed Barry White "the walrus of love," but he was certainly the guru of something for many star crossed lovers across his Love Unlimited Orchestra output. This album, in all its admitted smarminess, is a triumph. From the opening bars of "Barry's Theme," Rhapsody in White unleashes a groove which really keeps it all mellow. But the masterful finale, of course, is "Love's Theme." Enjoy!
