Clint Eastwood's gritty boxing drama was the big winner at the 2005 Academy Awards, garnering Oscars for Best Film, Best Director (Eastwood), Best Actress (Hillary Swank) and Best Supporting Actor (Morgan Freeman). As it did for 2003's Mystic River, Eastwood's life-long love of music and budding confidence as a composer has led him again to score the film himself. Anchored by elegiac figures for solo acoustic guitar and piano, it often shares River's spacious, subtle introspection. But it's also occasionally seasoned with welcome dollops of jazz and blues, the byproduct of a longstanding love affair with American roots music that also yielded his Charlie Parker biopic Bird and the insightful, Eastwood-produced Thelonius Monk documentary, Straight No Chaser. If its haunting, gently yearning string arrangements lack the bombast and overwrought melodicism that fuel so many Hollywood vehicles, Eastwood's musical sensibility here echoes his contemporary evolution as an actor and director: Surprisingly modern, with an emotionally tender, less-as-more ethos that's light years removed from his action film roots.

А уж что великолепная госпожа Аюми сотоварищи сделала со мною – это вообще ни в сказке сказать, ни пером описать – лучше же всего и адекватнее такого рода состояние характеризуется метким народным выражением “отвал башки”. Правда-правда – это было до того прекрасно, что невольно прощаешь креаторам (а может, “крематорам”? – услужливо подсказывает мне Word) несколько выбивающуюся из общего строя клипа финальную сцену, в которой шкафы-охранники усаживают солнцеподобную в белый Хаммер настолько впечатляющих пропорций, что отечественная мегазвезда Филипп Бедросович Пугачев от завести бы тут же удавился – да, так вот – прощаешь, ибо согласно тысячелетним земным установлениям, чем более птичка певчая, тем увесистее клетка золотая.
Нет, ну в самом деле – вы посмотрите на эти кадры, ну какие тут еще нужны джипы?! Коротко же говоря – настоятельно рекомендую, enjoy!

What happens when you combine three guitar masters, each with a lifetime of impressive musical experiences, and have them play together for the first time in the wonderful acoustic setting of New York's St. Peter's Church? You have the ideal set of ingredients for an eclectic and original masterpiece.

Some people get turned off by the avant-guarde/fusion jazz that Larry did in the 60s/70s. Well, they won't when they hear this one. The style is a little bit of bop, swing, and fusion. There are no effects or electronics, just the plain old guitar/bass/drums. Tricycles finds Coryell with two well-rounded fretless bassist and drummer. He plays with a clean and smooth tone and he spits out very tasty licks that live up to his fame. All songs are originals except two covers of Thelonious Monk and one of the Beatles. I could honestly have done with less drum solos and more bass solos, but the music is still good nonetheless. The standout track is definetly Dragon Gate, although Immer Geradeaus, Good Citizen Swallow and Spaces Revisited are up there too.

Lovely melodies , innovative sound-effects and a stringent subject matter (their beloved hobby ) : cycling and especially the myth of the worlds greatest sporting event . The TOUR DE FRANCE . This recording reminds me of another fine moment in KRAFTWERK's history “AUTOBAHN”. This dynamic feeling of a non-stop forward movement through electronic music . Hats off to the originators and respect for their best album to date.
