I got rock 'n' roll, to save me from the gold
And if that's all there is, it ain't so bad
| “ | Motörhead, is a long-lived and iconic British heavy metal band formed in 1975 by former roadie for Jimi Hendrix, bassist, singer and songwriter Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister. They are widely recognized as progenitors of thrash & speed metal, a fusion of heavy metal and what was soon to become hardcore punk. Consequently they influenced countless rock, punk rock, and heavy metal bands that followed. Usually a power trio, Motörhead had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, its follow on, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith, cemented Motörhead’s reputation as one of Britain’s foremost heavy metal groups. While Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, speed metal or thrash metal (and often regarded as a foundational influence on the latter two styles); Lemmy dislikes such labels, preferring to describe the band’s music simply as “Rock and Roll”... | ” |

Safe Trip Home is the warm, moving, and wonderfully musical third album from Dido, the London-born singer-songwriter with the cracked-crystal voice. "Dido bares her heart in her music in a way that she doesn't in any other public domain," says Rollo (Dido's brother)[...]it all goes from Dido to the listener in the most straightforward, emotionally honest way." The album, stays to her tried and tested formula of minimalism, ennui and trademark pathos - beginning with the opening emptiness of "Don't Believe In Love", which is one of the songs she performs on this radio recording made a few days ago, and also is the video clip's song.

Mahler was a fantastic composer. He takes you from the depths of despair to the heights of joy with his music. Drama, majesty, serenity then more again. Claudio Abbado leading a large orchestra with a choir and a beautiful voiced soprano more than does the score justice. All round a real good listen and watch.

October 14, 2005 will mark the 15th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's death. This lapse of time has only served to secure Bernstein's prominence as one of the most respected musicians of the 20th century and to affirm his reputation as a master conductor, composer, and teacher. Bernstein's sphere of influence extends past orchestral, operatic, and choral music to Broadway and beyond.
