The Missing Linc
Lincoln Mayorga & Distinguished Colleagues, Vol. 2 (1972)
(Sheffield Lab)
Jazz | EAC Secure | CD Image & LAME VBR -extreme mp3
222MB & 63MB
“The Missing Linc,” originally released in 1972, is the record which established Sheffield Lab as the first name in high quality recording technique. As a direct disc recording, it was the second release of the then small company and, because of its widespread distribution, had a much greater impact on the audio community than Sheffield Lab's first album, “Lincoln Mayorga and Distinguished Colleagues” (S-9). We are issuing “The Missing Linc” in Compact Disc form in response to widespread public demand.

Joe Pass & Ella Fitzgerald - Fitzgerald & Pass ... Again (1976)
Jazz | LAME CBR 192kbps mp3 | Covers & Tags | 82 MB
Spontaneous interaction & improvisation among musicians is a characteristic inherent to jazz music. Although Joe Pass was originally known for his ability to play solo guitar, on “Fitzgerald & Pass...Again” the spontaneous interaction between Pass and Fitzgerald in this duo format allows jazz fans to witness group improvisation at its most rudimentary level - that between a singer and an instrumentalist.

A live to two-track recording is a very exciting experience for all of us. Apart from the obvious sonic advantages over a conventional recording, cutting a live performance to a final two-track master captures an entirely different kind of feeling in the music, proving that musicians rise to heights with the challenge and the group effort. I hope you like the difference as much as we do. --Lincoln Mayorga

The Playboy Jazz Festival is legendary for the jazz performances at its annual show. This is a recording from one of the earliest of the Festivals, so far as I know never released on CD. Well worth your time to listen to.

I got the original vinyl of this back in the early 1980s and it blew everything else in my collection away in terms of sound quality. That was 1980 and in some ways the technology has vastly improved, but I cant say it is being used any better than this. The vocals were perfectly recorded because she sounds like she is actually in the same room on a good system

Laura Fygi - Live At Ronnie Scott's (2003)
Jazz Vocalist | LAME MP3 | 320 Kbps | 151 Mb | Cover & Tags
This is the second live album of Laura since her first one 'Live' at Carre Theatre in Amsterdam back in 1998. First time released in SACD format. This album of Laura's spledndid concert at Ronnie Scott's recorded in March last year is the definitive "live" recording of this remarkable Godness in Jazz. It was recorded on the last night of the concert and it captured Laura at her best in live performance without any of the flaws.

Big Band Hit Parade (1988) Telarc Digital
Erich Kunzel Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, featuring
Ray Brown, Dave Brubeck, Cab Calloway, Eddie Daniels, Buddy Morrow, Gerry Mulligan, Doc Severinsen, Ed Shaughnessy
Big Band/Swing/Jazz | EAC wav & LAME mp3 VBR -extreme | Covers
From the insert: There have been numerous attempts to recreate the Big Band sounds of the 1930s and 40s. Some have succeeded very well; others have failed quite miserably. This, however, is not just another one of those attempts to recreate those sounds. It is, instead, both a musical embellishment and expansion of them as written for and performed by a full big band instrumentation of saxes, trumpets, trombones and a rhythm section and featuring some additional, outstanding soloists all surrounded by a full symphony orchestra."

Jon Faddis - Good and Plenty (1986)
Jazz/Funk/Disco | LAME v3.96 VBR -extreme | covers + mp3 or wav
A difficult album to categorize. From easy laid back jazz to high energy funk (especially Western Omelette, my favorite track). An interesting listen!
