Music from the jews in Germany during 5 centuries. Collected and excellent performed by the famous jewish vocalist Jalda Rebling and the well known musicians Hans-Werner Apel and Stefan Maass.
It is really a very special kind of music. No easy-listening, but excellent and very impressive.



Jews in Germany 1250-1750 - A musical history of civilization
The present recordings provide for the first time a representative cross-section of the Jewish history of music in Germany. The highlights of Hebrew, Yiddish and German songs tell us of 500 years of fruitful and dreadful neighbourhood in a country, which seemed to be a second, intellectual home for the Jewish people, and yet became the place of ruthless persecution.

Grâce à un choix judicieux d'exemples à valeur représentative, les enregistrements présents offrent pour la première fois une sorte de coupe en long de l'histoire de la musique juive en Allemagne. Les chansons en hébreux, en yiddish et en allemand nous parlent de cinq siècles d'une cohabitation fructueuse et effroyable dans un pays qui, peut-être plus qu'aucun autre, avait semblé au peuple juif une patrie spirituelle et qui finit par se révéler un foyer de persécutions.
