Country | mp3 VBR (192 avg. Kbps) | 75.9 MB

In 1995, Merle Haggard and his band the Strangers re-recorded many of Haggard's hits. Those recordings have since been licensed to various record companies, including one of the Hag's old labels, Epic. For 16 BIGGEST HITS, Epic licensed 13 rerecordings of hits Haggard originally released on Capitol and MCA, then completed the disc with three of Haggard's Epic hits.

Lonestar - 16 Biggest Hits 2006
Country | mp3 VBR (192 avg. Kbps) | 84.3 MB | 2006

With a variety of their songs featuring references to contemporary musical and cultural icons like Pearl Jam, Ally McBeal, and Madonna, the Texas band Lonestar was one of the mid-1990s' biggest country music acts. This best-of features cuts from throughout the band's career, including their first hits "Tequila Talkin'" and "No News," the cute "Unusually Unusual," and the sensitive ballad "I'm Already There."

Johnny Cash - 16 Biggest Hits 1999
Country | mp3 VBR (224 avg. Kbps) | 85.2 MB | 1999

This is as good as any single disc out there for people wanting only one Johnny Cash hits collection. ( Sorry, you can't put almost fifty years of recordings on one album or box set. ) This cd covers his early period, the live prison songs and the rest of the best. Much has been said about "The Man In Black", for me my favorite part of his music is how well he does train songs, which are found on "Get Rhythm/Story Of Trains And Rivers". He's also one of the best concert performers I've ever seen. Every fan of music needs one Cash album. So, start here and follow up after hearing the various tracks.
George Jones & Tammy Wynette – 16 Biggest Hits 1999

George Jones & Tammy Wynette – 16 Biggest Hits 1999
Country | mp3 VBR (192 avg. Kbps) | 95.2 MB | 1999

Besides Conway & Loretta, no-one sang a duet like George and Tammy........although I was partial to George and Melba Montgomery. George Jones is one of the most sincere stylists in Country Music history; and Tammy had the most "vulnerable" voices around. This album showcases the combining of these two legends, and out of 16 numbers, there's not a bad one here. All of the usual suspects are included: "Golden Ring", "...Hold On", and "Two Story House", as well as a few of their cover songs (which they made their own) like "Something to Brag About". Great recordings and mixing.

Collin Raye - 16 Biggest Hits 2002
Country | mp3 VBR (224 avg. Kbps) | 93.4 MB | 2002

This album showcases Collin Raye's amazing tenor to the fullest. Hits like "Love Me," "Little Rock," "My Kind of Girl," "Not That Different," and "I Can Still Feel You" are featured on this brilliant album. Raye's vocals are well done, as is the song selection. Most of the songs are ballads, Raye's specialty. If you are a fan of Collin Raye, then this album is a must-have.

Alabama - 16 Biggest Hits 2007
Country | mp3 VBR (224 avg. Kbps) | 95.2 MB | 2007

The biggest group in country music history had far too many hit singles in the 1970s and '80s to fit on a single compilation. However, the budget-line 16 BIGGEST HITS does an excellent job of picking only the very best of the best, highlighted by the smash-hit ballad "The Closer You Get" and the joyous "Mountain Music." This collection is an excellent and inexpensive introduction for the casual fan.

Originally released in 1952 as a quasi-legal set of three double-LPs and reissued several times since (with varying cover art), The Anthology of American Folk Music could well be the most influential document of the '50s folk revival. Many of the recordings which appeared on it had languished in obscurity for 20 years, and it proved a revelation to a new group of folkies -- from Pete Seeger to John Fahey to Bob Dylan -- who covered the songs, tracked down the artists, and made new field recordings to document other strands of folk music. The man that made the Anthology possible was editor and compiler Harry Smith, a man born in Washington but a drifter much of his life, as well as a painter, filmmaker and anthropologist. From his collection of thousands of old 78-rpm records, Smith compiled 84 of his favorite hillbilly, gospel, blues and Cajun performances from the late '20s and early '30s (all originally issued by labels such as Columbia and Victor), and divided each into one of three categories: Ballads, Social Music and Songs. Smith sequenced the three volumes with a great deal of care, placing songs on the Ballads volume in historical order (not to be confused with chronological order) so as to create an LP which traces the folk tradition, beginning with some of the earliest Childe ballads of the British Isles and ending with several story-songs of the early 20th century, which document happenings of special interest to contemporary listeners, like the sinking of the Titanic or the boll-weevil plague.

Darrell Scott - Aloha from Nashville (1998)

Darrell Scott - Aloha from Nashville (1998)
Genre: Alt Country | MP3 VBR, Avg. 200 kbps | 65 MB | 46 min.

A Nashville session ace who plays with such standout artists as Guy Clark, Sam Bush, and Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott has recorded a fine debut album of original material. With a neotraditional songwriting sensibility and a voice somewhere between Ry Cooder’s and Lyle Lovett’s, Scott is a mind-blowing multi-instrumentalist, turning in tracks on acoustic and electric six- and 12-string flattop and archtop guitars, bass, pedal steel, mandolin, Dobro, banjo, Weissenborn, autoharp, drums, and harmonica. The title suggests something about his range of styles which includes old-time, country, rock, and swing. Tasty.
