Nanci Griffith - Complete MCA Studio Recordings 2003

Nanci Griffith - Complete MCA Studio Recordings 2003
Country | MP3 @ 320 Kbps | 95.3 + 95.3 + 95.3 + 62.8 MB | 46 Trac's | 2003 | covers

This collection includes four complete Nanci Griffith albums: Lone Star State of Mind, Little Love Affairs, Storms, and Late Night Grande Hotel, plus a couple of previously unreleased tracks. They're all very good albums, so this collection is a real bargain. It's not meant as a "best of" collection, but rather four of her albums, in their entirety. I like that, because best-of collections inevitably leave out some really good tracks. I'm a big fan of Nanci Griffith, with her bell-like little-girl voice and tuneful songs. Almost all of these songs are classics in their own right, and anyone who likes Nanci will appreciate them. Newcomers will be won over. Her music is exceptional: melodic, beautifully performed and with obvious emotional involvement. If you already have one or more of the albums, you'll have to weigh the price of getting the rest of them included here as a batch vs. buying them individually. On the other hand, there are a couple of nice bonus tracks not on the albums.
Faith Hill - The Hits 2007

Faith Hill - The Hits 2007
Country | MP3 @ 320 Kbps | 95.3 + 36.7 MB | Street Date Oct 02, 2007

Six albums into her career, Faith Hill already has more than enough hit singles to fill a best-of album, so this 13 track compilation is a fine summation of her career up to 2007. Containing seven number-one country hits, many of which crossed over to the pop charts, HITS is a fine argument for Faith Hill as one of the top country singers of her time. From pop crossover smashes like "This Kiss" and "Breathe" to more traditional country songs like "Mississippi Girl" and "The Way You Love Me," HITS is a solidly entertaining listen.

The brand new album from Brooks & Dunn featuring the hit single Proud Of The House We Built. Cowboy Town is the much anticipated follow up to Brooks & Dunn's highest selling album in 10 years, Hillbilly Deluxe.

Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson - 16 Biggest Hits
Country | mp3 VBR (192 avg. Kbps) | 77.3 MB | 2006

I bought this item one day while browsing music because it was on sale and I like both Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. I thought they would sound good together. I never imagined the CD would be so fantastic! Their voices and spirits compliment each other so beautifully that the result is a feeling of floating away on a sea of absolutely gorgeous music! If you like Willie and Waylon, this CD is for you.

Waylon Jennings - 16 Biggest Hits
Country | mp3 VBR (192 avg. Kbps) | 74.6 MB | 2005

" ........... all of the 16 songs that are here -- with the exception of the OK closer, "Drinkin' and Dreamin'," a cut from 1985 that's not all that distinctive -- are very good to excellent. Any album that contains "I'm a Ramblin' Man," "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way," "Good Hearted Woman," "The Wurlitzer Prize (I Don't Want to Get Over You)," and "I Ain't Living Long Like This" is a good listen, after all. There are other compilations that are better career overviews, but this is still a respectable, enjoyable sampler of Jennings' classic work. "
Tanya Tucker - 16 Biggest Hits 2006

Tanya Tucker - 16 Biggest Hits
Country | mp3 @ 192 Kbps | 68.2 MB | 2006

This best-of is a convincing display of Tanya Tucker's talented precociousness, as well as her extraordinarily mature way with a lyric--she was barely 15 when she cut David Allan Coe's erotically charged "Would You Lay With Me in a Field of Stone." Her vocal on "The Man That Turned My Mama On" lends a saucy frisson to this prime example of 1970s Southern country funk, while in "Greener Than the Grass We Laid On," her insouciant "do do do" speaks volumes about a story as old as Alabama dirt and as contemporary as yesterday's headlines.
Tammy Wynette - 16 Biggest Hits 1999

Tammy Wynette - 16 Biggest Hits
Country / pop | mp3 VBR (224 avg. Kbps) | 66.3 MB | 1999

Tammy Wynette has a number of greatest hits collections; however, this one *truly* has her 16 biggest hits. Specifically, it has all 16 of her solo #1 country songs! Of course, Stand By Your Man is here, but the collection also has quite a bit of variety. She's best known for her ballads, and many of these songs are ballads or slower in tempo. But she also includes #1 up-tempo hits. No one can sing of heartache or the difficulty of being a mother better than Tammy. Her voice aches in each song, and her vulnerability is always there. This is true country music. Highly recommended.
Roy Orbison – 16 Biggest Hits 1999

Roy Orbison – 16 Biggest Hits 1999
Country / pop | mp3 VBR (224 avg. Kbps) | 68 MB | 1999

The title here is, of course, not entirely accurate. None of Orbison's '80s material is here, which means no duets with Emmylou Harris or kd lang, and nothing from his Travelling Wilbury/final-stellar-solo-album period. This is, however, pretty much the best of Orbison's '60s tenure at Monument Records, and within those confines it's something of an embarrassment of riches, with all the big, paranoid operatic ballads that Orbison more or less patented--"Running Scared," "Only the Lonely," "Crying,"--along with more conventional, albeit ethereally lovely songs like "Blue Bayou" and "In Dreams." There's also a smattering of rockers including "Pretty Woman," whose opening guitar riff is by now imprinted on the basic genetic material of most of the human race. Obviously, essential listening.
Ronnie Milsap - 16 Biggest Hits 2007

Ronnie Milsap - 16 Biggest Hits 2007
Country | mp3 VBR (200 avg. Kbps) | 75.9 MB

Though he first achieved acclaim on the soul/R&B singles charts in the 1960s, Ronnie Milsap is best known as one of the most popular country singers of the '70s and '80s. With a Ray Charles-influenced style on piano and a mellow voice both romantically suave and earthily down-home, Milsap mixed honky-tonk with strains of smooth pop, paving the way for a stellar chart run. This HITS collection should be on the shopping list for anyone who's nostalgic for that era.
Patty Loveless - 16 Biggest Hits 2007

Patty Loveless - 16 Biggest Hits 2007
Country | mp3 VBR (224 avg. Kbps) | 93 MB | 2007

Just as the title says, this all-meat no-filler collection gathers Patty Loveless's biggest hits from throughout her lengthy career as one of the queens of contemporary country. A consistent, versatile hitmaker, Loveless has never been tied to a signature sound, and so these 16 songs sound impressively fresh and modern throughout. Highlights include "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" and Loveless's duet with George Jones, "You Don't Seem To Miss Me.
