Dan Tyminski - Wheels (2008)
Genre: Country | MP3 192 kbps | 50 MB | 37 min.

One of the most recognized vocalists in bluegrass music and beyond is back with his long-awaited second solo album, Wheels. Dan Tyminski's prominence has steadily grown through his role as vocalist and multi-instrumentalist in Alison Krauss and Union Station and through his enduring version of "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow" on the hit soundtrack to the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Now with the release of Wheels, Tyminski delivers a superb project accentuated by the inimitable talent of his band - Barry Bales, bass; Justin Moses, fiddle and Dobro; Adam Steffey, mandolin; Ron Stewart, banjo and fiddle - along with special guests Vince Gill, Ron Block, and Cheryl and Sharon White. Combining a sophisticated, modern sound with Tyminski's hallmark, searing intensity, Wheels features a powerful set of songs dealing with conflict, transition, heartbreak, and the lessons of life - all delivered with timeless soul from one of the great voices of contemporary bluegrass.

The band draws from that deep tradition to create new songs and sounds. Their shows are high-energy mixes of traditional, fiddle-driven dance tunes, mountain harmonies, original banjo and fiddle tunes, and new songs with ties to the Old-Time tradition. From the Grand Ole Opry to Jamband festivals, the Reeltime Travelers demonstrate reverence for Tradition and produce their own "Reeltime" Americana music.

Emmylou Harris Cimarron (1981)

Emmylou Harris Cimarron 1981
Country | FLAC | 270 MB
Deluxe reissue from 2000 (Eminent Records)

Cimarron was a 1981 Emmylou Harris album that, like its predecessor, Evangeline, was comprised mostly of outtakes from other recording sessions that hadn't fit into any of Harris' other albums. As a result, critics at the time complained that the album was "choppy" and lacked a unifying sound. Nonetheless, the album did well on the U.S. country charts, and its single "Born to Run" (not to be confused with the Bruce Springsteen song of the same name) was a top-ten country single. In 2000, Eminent Records reissued Cimarron for the first time on CD (it had been out of print since the late 1980s), with new liner notes and a bonus track, "Colors of Your Heart."

2008 | Genre: Americana | Alt Country | Folk Rock | Songwriter

Scotland Barr and the Slow Drags is a Portland, Oregon band that is redefining “Roots” by exploring their own. This is a roots-rock band that is as likely to draw inspiration from The Beach Boys and Warren Zevon as they are from Merle Haggard or Gram Parsons. Jangly pop, gut-bucket country, urban folk, 60’s psychedelia and straight up rock collide in a mid-air collision, creating a compelling clamor that has been called “West Coast Roots.”
