With the enormeus growth of daily publications at AvaxHome it was time to enhance our categories a bit. For better understanding please take a moment and read the following lines.



The new categories shall help you to locate publications of your special interest faster. You can access them from the menu on left side of each page. 2 things you should keep in mind:

1. Content in new created categories is currently very low - there is no way to sort out all the already available publications of the last 20 months to the new categories. So, for example, you will still have to look into the category "Webz and Misc" to find older DVD rips.

2. Our publishers decide WHICH category flags they set. If they chose wrong sub categories or are to lazy to set them at all: Please talk directly to them - either by writing a public comment or sending a PM.

Please do ONLY send complaints to our moderators if a publisher is regular abusing categories.




We know that the new categories are a bit more work for you but we hope you will also find them useful as they allow users fast and direct access to your publications which they otherwise might oversee. So, PLEASE, take a bit time and set meaningful and correct flags for the new categories.


1. Select ONE main category

Only in very rare cases you should select more as 1 main category. Select the ONE category which does fit best.

If you publish a program to view or edit graphics: The category is only SOFTWARE, not software and graphics. If you publish a Playboy magazine: The ategory is only MAGAZINES, not magazines and books and graphics and ... And, for all normal publications: It is NOT NEWS!

NEWS category is for NEWS announcements, not for additional linking books or music albums or an old copy of Windows 3.1

DVD rips and other (not music) videos now have their own category VIDEO!


2. Select MULTIPLE sub categories

Yes, in sub categories you SHOULD select ALL fitting sub categories, not only 1 - were it makes sense. Multiple sub categories of ONE main category, of course.

To give some examples:

Let's imagine you want to publish a WAVE rip of a MFSL version of Deep Purple's "Made in Japan".

As main category you select MUSIC
As sub categories you select:
FORMAT Lossless (wav, ape, flac ...)
Rock
:: Hard Rock
SPECIAL Audiophile
TIME: 70s

TIME means the era when a record was made, not when a remastered version was released. "Made in Japan" was released 1972, so please check 70s, no matter what date your CD was pressed.


OK, another one

Let's imagine you want to publish a rip of "Crazy Frog: Hang me higher" in 160 Kbps mp3.

First of all: Please think again if you really need to publish THIS album :-)) No other way? Argh ... OK ...

As main category you select MUSIC (eh, yes, no other way)

As sub categories you select:
FORMAT Lossy (mp3, wma, ogg ...)
Electronica (if you are brave) or "other styles"
TIME: 2000s

If really needed, we will add more examples. :-)

For books and magazines it is best to contact Alexpal, for music best write to Bully. Russian user please contact Avax and Torai.
