To avoid further confusion, 3 new sub categories had been added to the AvaxHome music section.
Ringtones
For ringtones of all formats (including MIDI ringtones)
MIDI
For 'real' HQ MIDI files (as used with electronic music instruments, NOT for ringtone MIDI files)
Karaoke
For karaoke files of all formats
Guidelines for publishers:
Ringtones
Please add info about fileformat in promote part of your publication.
To keep the files out of normal music albums, do NOT check genre/style flags.
MIDI
Please add info about instrument format in promote part of your publication.
For example: GM (General MIDI), GS (Roland), XG (Yamaha) etc.
To keep the files out of normal music albums, do NOT check genre/style flags.
Karaoke
Please add info about fileformat in promote part of your publication.
Just add the flag in addition to the normal category flags.
CD+G images -> FORMAT lossless + Karaoke
Video/DVD -> Video Clips + Karaoke
MIDI Karaoke -> MIDI + Karaoke
and of course additional the flags for genre/style and TIME

Glad to see you are still online 24 hours a day :-))
Am I back? Not ure ... Yes, it's the first day in 2007 I logged in. And yes, as no-one else had done it so far, I processed the "patch day" publications. Next I saw was a ringtone publication on top of the category for Audiophile records ... OK, problem solved :-)
A short look into the REFUSED list shows that ftp2share is still the main topic for refuses. In my view it is strange to still see so many refuses about ftp2share - SIX WEEKS after it started - eh, ok, no further comment about that.
And what do I see directly after publishing this announcement? A publication with full tracklist in the promote part on main page. Would have taken the "moderator" just 2 seconds to remove that ... (Yes, it was me who re-edited the other Hendrix album from same publisher) but after seeing that this careless style of moderation is still in use during the hours while Avax and Alexpal are sleeping, I guess it is better for my nerves to just logout again for another 4 weeks.
A bit late, but no matter: Happy New Year to you and our users!
PS: Yes, I had the best and most friendly thoughts when I logged in today, but now again I am just <cewnsoed>. OK, was my fault to hope that something might had improved at AvaxHome in the last weeks.
Best wishes to you too for 2007!
Warm welcome back to you Bully, as you can see from above posts we missed ya.
Rumours went around about your sudden disappearance, big panic followed by deep melancholy spread in the
head and heart of we who know and really appreciate your contribution here.
As self proclaimed spokesman, i welcome you again and on behalve of all ask you to please stay with us
despite the "bad habbits" of few.
I for instance promise to stop sending you 6 mails daily if you agree to our plea :)))
Coffee will be brought to you as soon as your cup is empty; a whip made out of angry chicken feather will
be hanged to your monitor, so you can use it to bring order when needed :)))
Please find here below 2 tracks specially ripped for you in the hope to "mood you up".

All the best for 2007
Joyfully YOurs,
Your one & only publicly known Captain Peng.
" ... perhaps a Karaoke section would also be nice in the furure."
No need to wait for future :-)
OK, I added a Karaoke section and checked our database for the keyword Karaoke. Many hits in search engine, but almost all are for software. In the dayrange fitting for unclusion just 2 publications can be located - both are the fine C-POP uploads from Avax. OK, at least the new sub category is not fully empty :-)
For publishers: Sub category Karaoke can be used for all karaoke formats. Just add the flag additional to the normal category flags.
CD+G images -> FORMAT lossless + Karaoke
Video/DVD -> Video Clips + Karaoke
MIDI Karaoke -> MIDI + Karaoke
and of course additional the flags for genre/style and TIME
TNX for your kind words! Great to see that you are still with us! And, as you see, I also still take care about AvaxHome. But it's hard to close my eyes about changes in both spirit and quality and it is hard to face all the sad letters I received from great members of our community before they left us because of these changes. No need to give names here, you all noticed which famos names no longer show up with new uploads. To make it worse, I fully understand why they left us.
@ fine
Don't think it is a new nick of Torai :-) He's too lazy to constant switch logins :-)))
When I see such publications going through moderation without any changes I sometimes even wonder if it is not prhaps a devilish-smiling TDz kidding me :-))
My inbox is "half" open again - but will take some time to process all the waiting mails. Many people just oversaw / irgnoed my public notices.
@ Joz
Nah, YOU do NOT need me :-)) From all AvaxHome Team Projects you needed much less support than anyone else. You just did it yourself and you did it great. Even "much less" is wrong. After preparing the special page you needed no support at all. The type of member we dream of ;-)
@ Captain Peng
TNX for the upload! Great music, as usual. And very well selected.
"Coffee will be brought to you as soon as your cup is empty; a whip made out of angry chicken feather will
be hanged to your monitor, so you can use it to bring order when needed :)))"
Listening your music something else comes on my mind, but this you cannot send over Rapidshare -) Perhaps I just need to be stoned enough to stand the "new" AvaxHome :-))
"Is there a section for Player Piano files, which are hybrid wav/MIDI files?"
Oops ... now you got me. To be honest, I have no idea at all that such files exist :-) How is this format called? As you describe it, it is a mix of 2 fully opposite formats (WAV = audio files, real sound & MIDI = data bytes telling a tone genrator what note to play on which instrument at which time). OK, many audio software can save both audio tracks and MIDI tracks in a "bundled" file, but these "bundles" are mainly special ormats of the used software.
OK, there's one thing we hould not forget: Creating new categories does not also mean that users will fill them with uploads :-) Many of our main music categories could very easy have more sub categories :-) But somehow we also need to keep the category list at a reasonable size for the uploaders and moderators who have to check them.
As long as we do not have much uploads of this special file format, I think MIDI is a well fitting place. The strict separation of ringtone MIDI files from 'real' MIDI files might show my intention for the MIDI category: Files for people DOING music instead of just listening. OK, sure, everyone can also just listen to a good MIDI file, but as normal listeners to not own good instruments for perfect tone generation of a MIDI file, I guess the MIDI category will mainly be used by active musicans. They know what MIDI means, so I gave no further description for that category.
Another topic would be printed music. Like note sheets, fake books etc. We already had a few of them in past. But from main category they belong to ebooks section. Same as VSTI belong to software.
"To possibly increase the number of Karaoke-Postings, you should reedit this Announcement as follows and put the date at least three days to the future, so that more users can notice it."
Argh ... yes ... you are right. I already thought about a re-edit, but adding a third category in promote part breaks my left / tight position design :-) OK, I see what I can do. But the URI and therefore the URL of this announcement will still be:
announce_2_new_categories.html :-))
And I fear you are also right about putting it back on top of main page. Almost all of our users NEVER read the MEWS category. I watched this in past very often - at same moment a publication was removed from top of main page, but still on top of NEWS category!, all discussions in the comments stopped at once.
OK, I change the date to put it back on top of main page. But I guess 1 day is enough, it is not sooo important.
JOAORION
Now your words flatter me... I may have set up and organised [and now you're here, I will reorganise and revamp once more, LOL!!] the TD Project BUT, believe me, you were the inspiration behind it all!!
You are the BEST!
Hi,
could you add few monotone ringtones also. I really appreciate the
good work done by you guys. Can you suggest me some good software for increasing the system speed and internet speed, though cfospeed provided s really good, it has increased my download speed from 5kb/sec to 7to8kb/sec.
thanks a lot
bye take care
(india)
"could you add few monotone ringtones also."
As I menioned above, adding a new category does not mean it will fill up with content soon. :-) You see, AvaxHome is providing just a framework (the servers, software, support ...) to the members of the AvaxHome community. Same as each member can download, each member can publish whatever he / she likes. As we sdo not force our members to upload, most go the lazy way of downloading only :-) Or in other words: _IF_ there will be more ringtone publications or not fully epends on our members, including you.
> Can you suggest me some good software for increasing the system speed and internet speed, though cfospeed provided s really good, it has increased my download speed from 5kb/sec to 7to8kb/sec.
Software and tips first depend on your hardware and OS - a PC user running Windows needs filly different things as a user running Linux or even a MAC :-) Please have a deeper look in our software category.
Enhancing transfer speed first depends on what technology you use - a modem user has different needs as a user of a broadband connection. A general hint: Most ISPs (Internet Service Providers) offer their own tools to optimize transfer speed. But these and also all the non-ISP dependent tools cannot do onders - if your IP configuration is already at fitting values (mainly MTU) nothing will improve. Advertising like "Increases your speed up to 200%" and similiar jokes are only possible if you have a fully wrong configured system :-)
But it is far out of reach of AvaxHome to do global computer support :-) If you can't find anything fitting to your needs in the software section or using Google.com, I would suggest that you provide at least the neded info about your hardware, OS, internet connection etc. so perhaps one of our members with similiar system might be able to give you some hints. I'm almost sure some of our members will contact you directly by PM to help you.
Like most users i wait in the background hoping for some changes
And mow bully is a bit back, perhaps we can try again to change you're mind :-))
it's not too late to turn it al back you know ;-)
Not every dissions or changes you made here turns out so well.. and the Avaxhome you had was better then it is now.
Don't it alway's seems to go, that you don't know what you've got
till its gone.
these are just a few simple lines from a welknown song.. but they are so true :-)
Send this morning the same lines to a friend, but for a different meaning, but it fits also very well here
Nice song, a very nice song
i like the tekst the sound and how it fits together
Joni Mitchel - big yellow taxi
The counting crows also made a very good cover of it.
But perhaps I better take this one :-) the last lines about the buldozer... take away our home and land
fits even more....
As Performed By Bob Dylan:
They paved paradise, they put up a parking lot,
A big hotel, a boutique,
And a swinging hot spot.
Don't it always go to show
You'll never know what you got till it's gone?
They paved paradise, they put up a parking lot. They took all the trees, they put 'em in a tree museum.
They charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em.
Don't it always go to show
You'll never know what you got till it's gone?
They paved paradise, they put up a parking lot.
Hey, farmer, farmer, put away that D.D.T.!
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Don't it always go to show You'll never know what you got till it's gone?
They paved paradise, they put up a parking lot.
Late last night I heard my screen door slam.
A big yellow bulldozer took away the house and the land.
Don't it always go to show
You'll never know what you got till it's gone?
They paved paradise, they put up a parking lot.
hope you don't mind.. I don't have a ftp client to upload to you're ftpshit server (sorry) :-)))
http://rapidshare.com/files/13561668/bigyellowtaxi.zip.html
just the three songs i mention above :-))
" ... you were the inspiration behind it all!!"
As some members might remember, the first AvaxHome Team Projects (Santana & Cohen) I did run myself. But I quick learned that it is much more convenient (to me) to just INSPIRE other memembers and let them do the real work :-))
@ TDz
"... I hope music section got better than it was ..."
Great to see that you at least did not lost your fine sense of black humor ;-)
During the last 2 days I took a quick look over the music section. many famos uploader names are missing, mainly from the original content providers (rippers) - most what I see is republished content grabbed from other sites. But I also noticed some fresh blood showing up taking the chance as they no longer have to compete with the "big heroes" who left us. Our former prestige project MFSL is fully dead (but this also has reasons not related to AvaxHome changes), but the new category SPECIAL Audiophile is filled very well with fine content.
Other categories suffer much more than the music section. Special the ebook section - which once was AvaxHome's highlight - is mainly kept alive by the hard work of Alexpal - hope you make sure he will
never get suck or need a vacation :-)
All in all I cannot say that I am very proud of what I see when browsing main pages, but I have to admit that I exspected worse.
"... before the "main reason for refuses" :)"
Of course I saw that you stiil have not installed improved software or even a better optical design for this "earthshaking innovation", but I guess you are very busy otherwise :-) Yes, February is very close. To make sure I do not miss any part of all that fun :-)) there was no other way as to come back end of January. Somehow I guess you might need me :-))
BTW, my friendly ords about the refuses had 2 reasons. First, of course, that "some" mod still only checks if the link is directing to the holy place, but otherwise fully ignores all rules of the FAQ a publication should take care about.
Second it is a bit strange that no-one writng those many refuses takes a moment to think about _WHY_ so many refuses still have to be written after over six weeks.
But glad to see that you still are brave enough to show up with a comment in public :-))
"Like most users i wait in the background hoping for some changes"
My crystal ball tells me that you do not have to wait tooo long for mroe changes ... not sure if I should put a :-) or a :-( here ... ah, we will see.
"And mow bully is a bit back, perhaps we can try again to change you're mind :-))"
I'm not back to change TDz's mind. Karma will take care for him :-)) OK, more serious: Sure, TDz can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but same for me. But it is wrong to throw all stones for current and future changes against his head.
I fully understand your concerns and it is not a secret that I do not like parts of the ongoing changes. But perhaps I am wrong, perhaps the new "AvaxHome" will be a big success. There is no way to "go back", please believe me, so I think we should stay tuned and give it a chance. Of course we can use the waiting time for collecting well shaped stones :-) in case we might need them soon. But make sure you collect more as the ones you need for TDz :-))
OK, a more genreal answer to all your topics - it makes no sense to talk again about all the details. I already wrote more than I should have written in my public comments last month.
But I am glad that you still "wait in the background" and I really hope some of the fine members who left us are also still lurking in the background.
talking about stone's
I gues you're picture is also very well selected then :-))
seeing 5 persons...that must be the team of avaxhome in older times.
Guess the one with the beard is you.
and as we can see you already collected enough stones behind you're back :-)))
OK, Perhaps you're right. I know that what we all said is not helping or change anything.
but you cannot blame me for trying :-))
I am really glad that you are writing more than you think you should. I assure you that not one single word is out of place.
@Peetje
I have been pleasantly surprised by your comments and look forward to see you back with us. We have to pull strings together, believe me. We are going to need each other's support if we want AvaxHome to resemble something of its past glory.
@TDz
We kinda like your humour you know :-)))) but you also have to admit that the best elements were to be found solely and exclusively at AvaxHome... why bring down such a wonderful place? It's a shame indeed. Well, think twice then!!! It makes no sense demolishing a Cathedral to build a little Chapel... or so some saying goes. Take care of AvaxHome and its generous members.
Once more I add that I am taking things a bit easy, I am still getting used to this ftp2share linking though, as many of you have seen already, I just create virtual folders/files - I have no intention of sending files over the ftp2share server. I tried it and I cannot wait for eternity at 1 or 2kbps in upload, no way, not when I upload magnificently at 64Kbps to RS. So Peetje, do not despair - you just need to do like I do and many other uploaders/posters are doing. With virtual file linking ftp2share can "work" a little bit better.
I still hang out here some, download occasionally, but I will not upload again under the present circumstances. Surely, what the AvaxHome team does with this site is their business and responsibility, and I applaud them for building an arena for exchange of many items and ideas not found elsewhere. There are many, many warez and ebook and music sites on the web, and it was quite an achievement to have produced what was (and I stress 'was') one of the finest of all sites. But the result was also due to the posters (what Bully calls the "big heroes"- I am unsure if he is being sarcastic) and it is absolutely clear that they had no say in the changes or were even asked their opinions. They and I felt, for lack of a better term, 'pissed on'. In in all of the time since, nothing has improved and clearly this site has even gotten worse. If an 'atmosphere' can be felt over a broadband connection, then AvaxHome feels cold, unwelcoming, and sometimes even hostile.
In my neck of the woods they say 'fuck that shit'. I feel used, so I'll use back. I'll show up, lurk, and download, but I will not contribute under these circumstances. It's only fair.
Well This last comment just made me deside that i never can be like that.. And I am not gonna sit and wait forever :-)
@ jozzie
tnx for you're warm words and support, it really helps
So i wil buy me a new pair of uplaodwings and put my virtual files on that .... server
Wich makes absolutely no sense for me because the whole mirror thing (that's what's it was all about) is completely worthless)
Ok, must be real important so let's give it a try :-))
@moderators
This is the fourth time when i post a comment and after i send it away it shows up somewhere else :-(
It is only when i use opera as webbrowser
really strange
but i think this post do not fit so very well in here :-)
http://www.avaxhome.ws/music/new-wave-hits-of-the-80s.html
"This is the fourth time when i post a comment and after i send it away it shows up somewhere else :-("
Welcome to the club :-) Yes, it is a bug of our software.
Since March 1th 2006 I reported it to TDz, but somehow he does not take me serious about it :-) The problem is, that this bug only happens under rare conditions, only for users with good security functions - the typical IE user should never face it. I myself was the first one who had the pleasure to constant suffer under this bug since the first day our new software was launched and it took me much time to analyze and get rid of it for my own system.
Here is a copy of one of the comments I already wrote in public:
----------

@ nvv
"Hi, it's a test. 3 attempts to put message here failed. I'l try 1's more."
"P.S. Пишу в Осле, под Оперой текст попадает в http://www.avaxhome.ws/magazines/pc_world_magazine_200607.html"
Yes, it is an old bug. I first described it in full in first Bugtracker about march 9th. Again in the second bugtracker and again in private to the right person :-)
It is not fully analyzed and as I had found a way for myself to solve the problem, I didn't had close eyes if it is corrected or not. It seems to be related to javascript. Depending how secure your system is, it will hit you. Typical users of shit like IE and no additional filtering of incoming packets will never see that problem.
If you run any kind of packet filtering like ad blockers, html/javascript filters, intelligent desktop firewall doing more as usual port filtering, perhaps even some kind of intelligent local proxy - it CAN strike you.
When you move your mouse pointer over the SEND button for comments you will see an URL. The last part is the Publiaction ID the comment should be added to. Now, for a short moment only, disable all TCP/IP related security software you have running. Reload the page. Move mouse pointer again over the SEND button. If you now see a different publication ID, you are one step further :-)
Note this publication ID, this is the correct one. Now start re-enabling your software, step by step. Reload page and check the ID again. After you know what software it is, check the configuration of it and try to efine a rule for allowing AvaxHome such accesses.
If no software is showing any influence, check Opera configuration itself. There are many options special for javascript. Turn them off and on in steps to see what happens.
Sorry, at the moment there is no other solution I could tell you. I had to spent myself almost 1 hour in march to find a solution for my configuration - no, for me it was not the Opera configuration, for me it happened 2 steps higher in packet filtering, before the packets even did arrive at Opera.
----------
In your special case I guess you can easy solve it. Opera has some nice security functions to filter javascripts. Just go to "Preferences -> Advanced ..." and switch off all of these filters. Then you can try to switch them on again one by one while checking if the PID is still correct.
The correct Publication-ID for this publiaction is: 91648
If you see any other PID in the link of the SEND button you still are hit by this nasty bug. And do not forget: You must RELOAD the page again and again for each new test.
Tnx for you're help
I think I found the problem.
Ok, i hope that i can make myself clear in explaining
Since there are so many ads om avaxhome.. I had much problems with the pageloads ...special the ads from Alex which are found under every topic, needs a few more seconds. It's like it's freezing the page for a moment and you can do nothing
It's very irritating also it looks very ugly
so i place the name avaxhome in the special collom wich blocked the popups ;-)
the last 6 weeks i did not download so much.. lot's of good uploaders are gone but
also because i do not always see the downloadbutton..i have to swich to IE.
I know that adds are important, but i hope that TDZ (when he reads this) understand that it is not alway's funny
also a reason that people stay from here....
Hi !
