Tom Waits - Rockpalast (1977)
English | 01:20:19 | FLV 294x240 | audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 44100Hz mono 96Kbps)
AVI | XVID 640x480 | 932Kbps| Dolby AC3 44100Hz stereo 191Kbps) | 264 & 647 MB Performed by Tom Waits (vocal & piano), with Frank Vicari (tenor saxophone), Fitzgerald Jenkins (bass) & Chip White (drums).
I got this one off of dailymotion some time back, as a 270 MB flash video, probably ripped from a VHS of the original broadcast. Although some parts have appeared at youtube by now as well, this full one seems to be gone for some time now, so that'll make a good excuse for dropping it here. Low quality, low fps, monaural .flv, and even out of sync a second or so, so what to do?
I tried various scenarios. In the end, I decided to stream the container content to avi, convert the video to 640x480 xvid, rip the mono audio, edit it in Audition as a wave (on dynamics and stereo channel mixing), and then join the new a/v in Premiere, this time in sync, and make a xvid/ac3 out of it, mostly because both xvid and ac3 have excellent rendition options through ffdshow: just fine-tune or adjust it the way you like it, even if it's a low quality vid. To be on the safe side, I'll post the original .flv alongside the edited .avi. You may want to check 'em out both.
As far as the performance is concerned: absolutely fascinating, great line up. The fact that the German audience doesn't seem to be very responsive to Waits' lyrics (probably due to language problems) just gives it all an extra edge.
Anyway, I hope you'll all appreciate the effort and enjoy this one. And remember: 'for fans by fans, and never for sale'.

WV+CUE+LOG or mp3 CBR 320 | Covers | 373/393 or 118 MB
It's been said that the only things certain in life are death and taxes. One can safely add Motorhead to that adage. The famed trio led by the iconic Lemmy Kilmister released its 23rd album with 2006's Kiss of Death. Giving the people what they want straight and true, Motorhead unleash their patented blend of blazing speed-metal riffage and punk-rock attitude across the album's songs...

After years of session work and songwriting for other people, Reginald Dwight changed his name to Elton John and formed a songwriting partnership with a certain Bernie Taupin (Elton wrote the music to Taupin's lyrics). After the release of two studio albums, they hit pay dirt with the release of this, their third album, and their first hit single `Your Song', taken from the previous self titled album.

Don Henley - The End of the Innocence [1998 MFSL UDCD 721] (1989)
EAC Image (WV+CUE+LOG) | 325.3 MB | Covers (200 dpi) included Genre: Rock
Don Henley's The End of the Innocence capped off the '80s on a perfect note. With Bruce Hornsby's classy piano sounding like the last, gentle strains of an uneasy age, lead track "The End of the Innocence" features one of the best lyrics ever written on disillusionment...and hope in the face of disillusionment. Henley sounds like he was put on earth to make this majestic song come alive, his singing the best he's ever done, a high croon filled with longing and sadness.

The Funky Muchachos - Play Soul Jazz - 2008
Funk, Jazz | mp3 | VBR~212 | 66Mb
A sweet set of funky instrumentals from the Funky Muchachos -- a combo who usually record under the guise of Tito Lopez, and who have a classic soul jazz approach to their groove! The core trio features drums, bass, and either organ or electric piano, depending on the track -- and some cuts add in a bit of guest instrumentation on flute or guitar to round out the sound slightly. The keyboards are great -- often quite stark and spare, with as much rhythmic focus as the other players in the group -- and the electric piano tracks are especially nice, with a groove that's warm, but never too smooth or slick. Titles include versions of "What's Goin On", "The World Is A Ghetto", "Boogie On Reggae Woman", "Spooky", and "Let's Stay Together" -- plus "I'm Comin Home", "Don't Take It Out", and "Donna's Way".

Guillaume De Chassy - Faraway, So Close
mp3 | VBR~189 | 65Mb | Cover Genre: Instrumental, Jazz
On the heels of two highly-acclaimed duet recordings with bassist Daniel Yvinec (the latter recently named to head France's National Jazz Orchestra), pianist Guillaume de Chassy last year released a remarkable Piano solo (Bee Jazz, 2007). You see the trend: duo, solo—the band can't get any smaller, so de Chassy has released a record for piano trio. It's characteristic of de Chassy's deliberate premeditation that he changes formats in this incremental way. Everything about the new record reflects this same careful musical intelligence...

Alestorm - Captain Morgan's Revenge (2008)
MP3 320 Kbps | 105 Mb | APE + CUE | 336 Mb | 41:36 Folk / Epic Metal
