High-performance reconfigurable computing has demonstrated its potential to accelerate demanding computational applications. Much, however, must be done before this technology becomes a mainstream computing paradigm. The articles in this special issue represent the latest trends and developments in the HPRC field, highlighting a small subset of challenging problems that must be addressed.
