Tyrannosaurus Rex, whose name means "tyrant lizard king", is classified as a bipedal carnivore (Therapoda) of the lizard-hipped dinosaur order (Saurischia). It had a large, sturdy head and long hind legs and a tail. In comparison, its arms were very short with two-fingered hands. What their actual purpose was is unclear. It is believed that T-Rex was able to balance skillfully and moved around on its two hind legs.

Triceratops' name means "three-horned face". Triceratops is classed as one of the frilled Ceratopsians of the order Ornithischia, which have bird-like bone structures. This giant herbivore walked on four legs and would have used its horns to fight off attackers. The frills were likely to have been used to regulate the animal's body temperature, or perhaps in territorial fights among males, but no-one really knows for sure.

PDF | Origami | 3.53 MB

The name Supersaurus means 'super lizard' and the dinosaur belongs to four-legged, plant-eating (Sauropoda) group of dinosaurs that have lizard-like skeletons (Saurischia). Supersaurus was discovered when a huge shoulder blade, measuring over 2 meters in height, was found in the Dry Mesa quarry in the U.S. state of Colorado. Until 1979, giant fossils, believed to be from the same animal, continued to be found. Then, in 1985, Dr. Jim Jensen, realizing that it was a dinosaur much bigger than even the Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus, at that time thought to have been the largest dinosaurs, named it 'Supersaurus'. It had a very long neck and a snake-like tail that it is believed to have used like a whip to protect itself.

PDF | Origami | 1.97 MB

The Stegosaurus is an herbivorous dinosaur that lived in North America in the late Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era. Ranging up to approximately 7 - 9 meters in length, the Stegosaurus' most outstanding characteristic is the large bony plates running in a line down its back to its tail, alternating from side to side. Blood vessels developed in the surfaces and insides of these plates, perhaps to radiate heat and cool the body. With its small head, this dinosaur's brain was only about as big as two or three ping-pong balls. The spines at the tip of its tail appear to have been used as weapons to protect the Stegosaurus against enemies.

The Euoplocephalus is an herbivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the late Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era. As implied by its name, which means "well-armored head," one of the Euoplocephalus' most outstanding characteristics was the hard bony armor that encased its body. Approximately seven meters in length and with a heavy appearance, the Euoplocephalus may look like a slow-moving dinosaur. But the lightness of its armor suggests it may have moved with surprising speed. At the tip of its tail was a lump of bone, which the Euoplocephalus may have swung like a hammer in self-protection. However, no direct evidence has been found that indicates the tail was used in this way.

The Bambiraptor is a small carnivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the late Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era. Its scientific name comes from the holotype specimen of a juvenile Bambiraptor, which measured a mere 90 cm in length. Despite many bird-like characteristics, Bambiraptor lived approximately 80 million years after birds had branched off from dinosaurs. Although Velociraptors such as the Bambiraptor continued to evolve, they never evolved into birds.

The Apatosaurus is a large, herbivorous dinosaur whose habitat encompassed North America during the late Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era. Ranging up to roughly 21 meters in length, the Apatosaurus featured a large, stout body and a long neck. Famously, following the discoveries of Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus, it was determined that the two dinosaurs in fact represented the same species, differing only in stage of growth. Since the discovery of Apatosaurus had been announced first, its name was chosen as the official zoological name for the species.

PDF | Origami | 1.45 MB

A carnivorous dinosaur typical of the Jurassic period, Allosaurus inhabited a broad geographical range, including North America and Europe. Ranging up to roughly 9 - 12 meters in length, Allosaurus is believed to have used its large, powerful upper jaws and three sharp claws on each of its front feet as weapons to bring down prey. In motion, the Allosaurus used its long, hard tail as a precise counterbalance for its large, ungainly head. The lumps projecting from its head are yet another of Allosaurus traits.
