For each county or statistically equivalent entity, the Census Bureau's block maps show the greatest detail and most complete set of geographic information. These large scale maps depict the smallest geographic entities for which the U.S. Census Bureau presents data - the census block - by displaying the features that form block boundaries and the numbers that identify them. The intent of this map series is to produce a map for each county, on the smallest possible number of map sheets, at the maximum practical scale. The maps show the boundaries, names and codes for American Indian areas/Alaska Native areas/Hawaiian home lands, county sub-divisions, places, voting districts, census tracts, block groups, and census blocks.

Los Planes Maestros juegan un papel importante en el entendimiento de los objetivos de conservación de un ANP. Este documento, considerado como el instrumento de gestión de más alto nivel dentro del ANP, presenta el ordenamiento del área para su correcta gestión, establece la filosofía básica para el manejo y desarrollo del ANP y provee las estrategias para resolver los problemas y lograr los objetivos de manejo identificados, tanto para la protección como para el uso sostenible del ANP. Los Planes Maestros deben contener de manera clara los lineamientos de participación privada y los requerimientos base para la evaluación de impactos. A partir de estos se identifican programas de manejo y organización, marcos de cooperación y facilidades que debe tener el ANP para una gestión eficiente, incluyendo su acción en las zonas de influencia y amortiguamiento.
