Italian Review:
La prima volta che ho avuto notizia di Real War è stato allo Smau 2001, dove i ragazzi della Leader hanno mostrato a me ed al buon Druido, l’anteprima di questo strategico un po’ fuori del comune; passato un po’ di tempo hanno prontamente mandato una copia per testarlo.Già le prime impressioni che avevo maturato a Milano erano state buone: la prova della demo non ha potuto che confermarle. Real War è un classico rts ambientato nell’epoca contemporanea in cui si sviluppa l’idea della guerra fra gli Stati Uniti d’America e una non ben precisata forza ribelle siglata I.L.A.. Niente di innovativo come screenplay dunque: di questo genere di prodotti ve ne sono parecchi in giro in questo periodo...

English Review:
Real War is a throwback to the days of those horrible real-time strategy clones that followed the success of Westwood's Command & Conquer series. Like most of the games that tried to ride Westwood's coattails, this is an example of amateurish game design at its worst. And considering its subject matter--the US military going abroad to battle terrorists--it's also an example of colossally bad timing...

Iniziamo dal non piacevole presupposto che se volete giocare a Braveheart dovete usare la patch, e non è vero che tale patch serve "solo" a risolvere alcuni problemi nel multiplayer. In realtà senza la patch il gioco è ingiocabile, punto e basta, e già questo è di per se inammissibile. Tra l'altro con la patch si perde la possibilità di giocarsi il titolo in italiano, ma in compenso tutti i bug che corredavano le scritte tradotte spariscono, quindi, in sostanza, forse è meglio così...

Braveheart is a perfect example of how an ambitious game design can end up being something of a double-edged sword. It combines strategic empire building with real-time 3D combat and takes place in late 13th-century Scotland, the same setting as the Mel Gibson movie. However, despite its intriguing premise, Braveheart's assorted play mechanics coexist about as peacefully as the Scottish clans depicted in the game....

Zax è chiaramente un gioco costruito sul motore di Diablo che consente di creare avventure in ambienti bidimensionali in prospettiva isometrica, in cui ci si muove e si agisce usando quasi esclusivamente il mouse.
Invece di essere ambientato in una cupa terra infestata da demoni e mostri di ogni sorta, Zax trasporta il giocatore su un mondo disperso nello spazio profondo...

English Review:
Zax succeeds admirably with its simple aims. It handles one vital game design element extremely well: pacing.
The shadow of Diablo looms large over the gaming landscape. Thanks to the phenomenal success of Blizzard's action-RPG franchise, more than a few games have borne its influence. Nox, Revenant, Darkstone, and Throne of Darkness, to name a few, seem to have borrowed from Diablo's isometric action-gaming formula, with its hordes of enemies and hypnotic mouse-clicking. Zax: The Alien Hunter, an action-adventure game from the aptly named Reflexive Entertainment, isn't shy about its influences. The developer trumpets Zax as a combination of Diablo and id's Quake, though Zax has little in common with the latter besides lots of shooting. Zax takes the basic action-packed gameplay of Diablo, puts it in a science-fiction setting, and comes up with a derivative but entertaining game...

The purpose of game consists in control of main hero - plumber Mario. The cantilever versions Super Mario allowed for the possibility of simultaneous game two together.
