Genuine Mediumship or The Invisible Powers

Swami Bhakta Vishita"Genuine Mediumship or The Invisible Powers"
PDF | ISBN B00192MNPI | Year 1919 | 212 pages | English | 1.4MB

One of the most common misconceptions of the occult sciences student is that which is expressed by the term supernatural. This term is used to express the idea of that which is outside of the realm of nature and of nature's laws. Advanced students and teachers of the occult doctrine know that we have no direct knowledge of anything outside the realm of nature and of nature's laws. Contents: nature's finer forces; mental vibrations and transmission; thought transference; clairvoyance and kindred phenomena; clairvoyance, past, present and future; mediumship; mediumistic conditions; how to develop mediumship; mediumistic phenomena; experiences in the circle; higher spirit manifestations.

Mystic London: Phases Of Occult Life In The British Metropolis

Charles Davies"Mystic London: Phases Of Occult Life In The British Metropolis"
PDF | ISBN: 0548102171 | Year 1875 | 255 pages | English | 1.2MB

A strange Christian view and obsession with occultism in 1875 London. Of all the protean forms of misery that meet us in the bosom of that "stony-hearted stepmother, London," there is none that appeals so directly to our sympathies as the spectacle of a destitute child. In the case of the grown man or woman, sorrow and suffering are often traceable to the faults, or at best to the misfortunes of the sufferers themselves; but in the case of the child they are mostly, if not always, vicarious.

The Banned Lecture

Aleister Crowley "The Banned Lecture"
PDF | ISBN B00156BTVM | Year 1930 | 20 pages | English | 1.3MB

In February 1930 Crowley was invited to give a lecture to the Oxford University Poetry Society on the notorious medieval French occultist and mass-murderer Gilles de Rais. However the lecture was cancelled at the last moment after pressure was brought to bear by the University's Catholic Chaplain, Father Ronald Knox. Crowley retaliated by having his friend and publisher P. R. Stephensen quickly print copies of the lecture in booklet form, which were then sold on the streets of Oxford, thereby reaching a far greater audience than his original lecture would ever have attracted.

In spite of the sensational title, this book is actually a debunking of a notorious late 19th century hoax. Leo Taxil, a French anti-clericalist, suddenly converted to Catholicism in the 1885 and wrote a number of books in which he claimed that Freemasonry was a world-wide satanic conspiracy. Taxil started an anti-Masonic newspaper. In 1887 Taxil even had an audience with Pope Leo XIII, who subsequently sanctioned his anti-Masonic campaign.

The Crusades from the Perspective of Byzantium and the Muslim World
Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection | ISBN 0884022773 | 2001 | PDF | 6.6 MB | 337 pages

The Crusades from the Perspective of Byzantium and the Muslim World is the result of scholarly reassessments of the Crusades. The views expressed here complement the other examinations that focused on the internal and Western aspects of the movement on the nine-hundredth anniversary of the Council of Clermont. The volume opens with an introduction to the historiography of the Crusades, followed by wide-ranging discussions covering four topics: holy war in Byzantium and Islam; the approaches and attitudes of the various peoples affected by and involved in the Crusades; the movement's effect on the economies of the eastern Mediterranean; and the influence of the Crusades on the art and architecture of the East.
