To the Extreme: Alternative Sports, Inside and Out

Robert E. Rinehart, Synthia Sydnor - To the Extreme: Alternative Sports, Inside and Out
State University of New York Press | ISBN 0791456668 | PDF | 2003 | 416 pages | 2,1 MB

An international array of authors, including some prominent extreme athletes like Jake Burton and Arlo Eisenberg, look at a variety of issues and concerns within the new action extreme sports that are gaining popularity throughout the world. For each sport, an interpretation is presented through two essays: one written by a scholar active in some aspect of research for the given activity, and another by a practitioner/athlete who writes "from the inside out." The juxtaposed essays confront questions about the essence of sport such as, What is sport?; How does it originate?; and What is its use, value, and function? This book offers a fascinating look at how twentieth and twenty-first century sport forms emerge, proliferate, and take hold in a sport-crazy world.

Venerable Sujiva - Essentials of Insight Meditation
Ebook | PDF format | language: English l 335 pages | Publisher: Buddhist Wisdom Center
2000 year | ISBN: 9839245023 | 3,5 MB

I would like to postulate three models in the progress of insight meditation, ie, the progress of penetration into the three universal characteristics. The first model is the model of the microscope.The progress of insight would be like a microscope that is consistently increasing its power of magnification. When the microscope increases its magnification, you can see more detail into the nature of your slide. It is the same thing when you watch the nature of the three universal characteristics. As insight knowledge grows, reality becomes clearer and clearer. Of course, this does not happen all at once, it slowly increases. This model gives the idea that it does not come from thinking, but from pure, clear and concentrated awareness. There must be intention to see and to experience deeper. If one is just contented to experience what there is, then one may not go further. One has to push on.

As the saying goes, there is a right way, a wrong way, and the Army way, and when it comes to training the tens of thousands of troops in the United States Army and Army Reserves, there is only one way to teach the troops to use a handgun. Here for the first time in print is the recently declassified manual that the U. S. Army used to train tens of thousands of Army personnel how load, aim, sight, and squeeze the trigger of their Army-issue nine millimeter M9, .45 caliber, or .38 caliber revolver.

The sniper has special abilities, training and equipment. His job is to deliver discriminatory highly accurate rifle fire against enemy targets, which cannot be engaged successfully by the rifleman because of range, size, location, fleeting nature, or visibility. Sniping requires the development of basic infantry skills to a high degree of perfection. A sniper's training incorporates a wide variety of subjects designed to increase his value as a force multiplier and to ensure his survival on the battlefield. The art of sniping requires learning and repetitiously practicing these skills until mastered. A sniper must be highly trained in long-range rifle marksmanship and field craft skills to ensure maximum effective engagements with minimum risk.

Aikido :: Andre Lemonnier (1969)
Spanish | PDF Book | 137 pages | RAR 13 Mb | NO ISBN | Editorial Caymi
