Completeness Theory for Propositional Logics (Studies in Universal Logic)
Birkhäuser Basel | Pages: 178 | 2008 | ISBN: 3764385170 | 2 MB | PDF
The book develops the theory of one of the most important notions in the methodology of formal systems. Particularly, completeness plays an important role in propositional logic where many variants of the notion have been defined. Global variants of the notion mean the possibility of getting all correct and reliable schemata of inference. Its local variants refer to the notion of truth given by some semantics. A uniform theory of completeness in its general and local meaning is carried out and it generalizes and systematizes some variety of the notion of completeness such as Post-completeness, structural completeness and many others. This approach allows also for a more profound view upon some essential properties (e.g. two-valuedness) of propositional systems. For these purposes, the theory of logical matrices, and the theory of consequence operations is exploited.

Adaptive Filtering: Algorithms and Practical Implementation
Springer | Pages: 632 | 2008 | ISBN: 0387312749 | 6 MB | PDF
This book presents the basic concepts of adaptive signal processing and adaptive filtering in a concise and straightforward manner. The main classes of adaptive filtering algorithms are presented in a unifed framework using clear notations that facilitate actual implementation. The main algorithms are described in tables which are detailed enough to allow the reader to verify the learned concepts. Many examples address problems drawn from actual applications. This book covers the family of LMS and algorithms as well as set-membership, sub-band, blind, IIR adaptive filtering, and more. Several problems are included at the end of chapters and some of these problems address applications. A user-friendly MATLAB package is provided where the reader can easily solve new problems and test all of the algorithms in a fast manner. Additionally, the book provides easy access to working algorithms for practicing engineers.

Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications
Birkhäuser Basel | Pages: 437 | 2008 | ISBN: 3764386835 | 2 MB | PDF
This book is composed of three survey lecture courses and some twenty invited research papers presented to WOAT 2006 - the International Summer School and Workshop on Operator Algebras, Operator Theory and Applications, which was held at Lisbon in September 2006. The volume reflects recent developments in the area of operator algebras and their interaction with research fields in complex analysis and operator theory. The lecture courses contain: an introduction to two classes of non-selfadjoint operator algebras, the generalized analytic Toeplitz algebras associated with the Fock space of a graph and subalgebras of graph C*-algebras; three topics on numerical functional analysis that are the cornerstones in asymptotic spectral theory: stability, fractality and Fredholmness; a survey concerning Hilbert spaces of holomorphic functions on Hermitian symmetric domains of arbitrary rank and dimension, in relation to operator theory, harmonic analysis and quantization.

Multimedia Semantics - The Role of Metadata (Studies in Computational Intelligence)
Springer | Pages: 262 | 2008 | ISBN: 3540774726 | 2 MB | PDF
Research in the field of multimedia metadata is especially challenging: Lots of scientific publications and reports on research projects are published every year and the range of possible applications is diverse and huge. This book gives an overview on fundamental issues within the field of multimedia metadata focusing on contextualized, ubiquitous, accessible and interoperable services on a higher semantic level. The book in hand provides a selection of basic articles being a base for multimedia metadata research. Furthermore it presents a view on the current state of the art in multimedia metadata research. It provides information from versatile applications domains (Broadcasting, Interactive TV, E-Learning and Social Software) such as: Multimedia on the Web 2.0 - Databases for Multimedia (Meta-)Data - Multimedia Information Retrieval and Evaluation - Multimedia Metadata Standards - Ontologies for Multimedia.

Enhancing Cognitive Assistance Systems with Inertial Measurement Units
Springer | Pages: 233 | 2008 | ISBN: 354076996X | 6MB | PDF
The primary goal of this book is the specification, design and testing of an inertially stabilized camera platform for assistance systems with the focus on adaptive inertial measurement. This can be divided into the following sub-goals which also served as internal milestones for the project; development of a highly miniaturized inertial measurement unit, development of adaptive control algorithms for gaze stabilization, industrial application and development of multi-sensor fusion algorithms.

Applications of Computational Intelligence in Biology: Current Trends and Open Problems
Springer | Pages: 428 | 2008 | ISBN: 3540785337 | 5 MB | PDF
The purpose of this book is to provide a medium for an exchange of expertise and concerns. In order to achieve the goal, the editors have solicited contributions from both computational intelligence as well as biology researchers. They have collected contributions from the CI community describing powerful new methodologies that could, or currently are, utilized for biology-oriented applications. On the other hand, the book also contains chapters devoted to open problems in biology that are in need of strong computational techniques, so the CI community can find a brand new and potentially intriguing spectrum of applications.

Answer Book for Calculus (3rd Edition)
Publish or Perish | Pages: 418 | 1996-01 | ISBN: 091409890X | 2 MB
This book is a really great study aid to be used with Spivak's Calculus. Especially for students with professors that give a lot of theory and not a lot of examples. The answer book does not give all the answers outright, but gives many very good hints otherwise that can really shorten your search time.
