Aron Nimzowitsch: A Reappraisal
Batsford | Pages: 256 | 2003-06-30 | ISBN: 0713484381 | 5 MB | PDF

If after reading Nimzowitsch's two books, you crave more, this is the book to use. It goes over the portion of his career after Nimzowitsch's books, though it focuses on his entire career. An interesting interview with Bent Larsen is included, as well as some thoughts by Nimzowitsch himself on learning how to play chess. It is a solid effort from Keene. If you like Nimzowitsch, you should get it. Others could safely stay away from it and read from Nimzowitsch himself.

The System: A World Champion's Approach to Chess
Gambit Publications | Pages: 175 | 1999-03 | ISBN: 1901983102 | 5 MB | PDF

Hans Berliner is one of the most successful correspondence chess players of all time, and was utterly dominant in the 5th World Championship. Here, for the first time, he explains the set of principles - The System - that he used to guide him to the right moves. Readers will be astonished by the simplicity and power of Berliner's methods as he takes several major openings and subjects them to System principles, and finds radically new approaches to them.

Art of Attack in Chess
Everyman Chess | Pages: 352 | 1999-01-01 | ISBN: 1857444000 | 2 MB | PDF

I'm glad to have the algebraic edition of this timeless classic. Since attack is what chess is mainly about, this book is perhaps as essential as such cornerstones as "My System." Surely a must-have for anyone rated 1500+.
Nunn's Chess Openings (Everyman Chess Series)

Nunn's Chess Openings (Everyman Chess Series)
Everyman Chess | Pages: 544 | 1999-02-01 | ISBN: 1857442210 | 32 MB | PDF

In my opinion, Nunn's Chess Openings is every bit as good as Modern Chess Openings-14, which I also own. NCO is denser and has more lines, but MCO-14 is slightly easier to use. Both books compliment each other. It is very interesting to note how each book often differs in their evaluations of identical lines. If you're an intermediate player or stronger, I recommend getting BOTH!

Starting Out: Closed Sicilian (Starting Out - Everyman Chess)
Everyman Chess| Pages: 208 | 2006-06-01 | ISBN: 1857444140 | 2 MB | PDF

English International master Richard Palliser presents Starting Out: Closed Sicilian, an in-depth guide for intermediate to advanced chess players. Staring Out: Closed Sicilian offers the white- piece chess player an aggressive way to attack the Sicilian while avoiding the extreme complexity of opening theory associated with Open Sicilians. Being aware of core themes is more important than memorizing variations in the Closed Sicilian, making it valuable to players who prefer to immerse themselves in the experience of the game rather than rely heavily on rote study. Examples and sample chess problems, and illustrative chess diagrams on almost every page offer highly descriptive case-based breakdown of theory and execution. Starting Out: Closed Sicilian lives up to the high quality and exacting professional standards of in-depth chess guides from Everyman Chess.
Hypermodern Chess; As Developed in the Games of Its Greatest Exponent, Aron Nimzovich

Hypermodern Chess; As Developed in the Games of Its Greatest Exponent, Aron Nimzovich
Dover Publications | Pages: 221 | 1948-06 | ISBN: 0486204480 | 2 MB | PDF

I give this book a 4 star for anyone who wants to be introduced to Nimzovich. What I like best about the book is that Reinfeld introduces Nimzovich not simply as a grandmaster, but also as an artist. What kind of artist was he? The majestic flowing, classical beauty ala Rubinstein wasn't his. Dramatic is the keyword. His temperment was stormier and more impulsive, more Beethovenian, if you will. He loves to "build", to gather the stormy clouds. That is why his games are seldom short.
