Blackjack Secrets
Pi Yee Press | ISBN: 0935926208 | 1993-06 | PDF | 256 pages | 3 Mb

What a great read! Wong has done it again. If you are a serious blackjack player, or you think that you may want to become one, then you need to have this book in your library. I also own his book Professional Blackjack, and there are some similarities between the two. For example, they both teach you B.S. and the Hi-Low, but this book offers a great discussion about how to get away with your newly learned skills, along with topics about tipping dealers, games to avoid, and training techniques. Plus the price isn't bad either. Id recommend it to anyone!

Bought this book on the recommendation of Frank Schoebete (not sure this is the correct spelling of his last name), who is a gambling authority who said in his online newsletter column that this was one of, if not the only such type book he would recommend.

Computerized Adaptive Testing: Theory and Practice
Springer; 1 edition | ISBN: 0792364252 | 336 pages | January 1, 2000 | PDF | 8 Mb

Modern computer technology has opened up several new possibilities for optimizing the administration of educational and psychological tests. In computer adaptive testing (CAT), tests are automatically tailored to the proficiency level of the individual examinees. Currently, nearly all large-scale testing programs in the western world are already adaptive or in the process of becoming so. Written by active CAT researchers from Europe and North America, the chapters offer a comprehensive introduction to the latest developments in the theory and practice of CAT. The book can be used both as a basic reference on the state of the art in CAT and a valuable resource in graduate courses on test theory. The theoretical chapters in this book cover such topics as item selection and ability estimation, item pool development and maintenance, item calibration and model fit, and testlet-based adaptive testing. The practical chapters describe the operational aspects of existing large-scale CAT programs.

Along the route many fascinating topics are discussed, such as: challenging probability paradoxes; "paranormal" coincidences; game odds; causes and effects; interpretation of opinion polls; winning chances as a game proceeds; the nature of randomness; entropy and randomness; randomness in life; algorithmic complexity and the undecidability of randomness; possibilities and limitations of learning the laws of a Universe immersed in chance events. This charming book will inform and entertain the scientist and non-scientist alike.

Steven Skiena, «Calculated Bets»
Cambridge University Press | ISBN: 0521009626 | 2001-08-06 | 262 pages | PDF | 1 Mb

You could just as easily call this book How to Bet at Jai-Alai and Win! But that's only half the story. While Calculated Bets might indeed help you make a buck down at the fronton, it's as much concerned with the power of mathematical modeling and computer programming. The story of accomplished mathematician Steven Skiena's longtime obsession with this obscure Basque sport, Calculated Bets uses straightforward mathematics and real-world examples to divine the statistical mysteries behind playing--and, more important, wagering on--jai alai. (Which goes a long way toward explaining why Cambridge University Press is publishing what's basically a book about gambling.)

Harrington on Hold 'em:
Expert Strategies for No Limit Tournaments, Vol. III: The Workbook

Two Plus Two Publishing LLC; Workbook edition (May 30, 2006) | ISBN: 1880685361 | 350 Pages | 18.3 MB | PDF

This book would be better titled as “All the Stuff I Taught You in the Other Two Books, in Actual Practice using Well Known Poker Players, with Some More Stuff Thrown In, plus, How to Play After the Flop and Read Hands”. It's not just a big multiple choice quiz (though they are in question format), there's a LOT of analysis going on. He uses actual hands between other top pros (not in every case, but most) to illustrate his problems in many cases. Most of the 50 “problems” are actually entire hands (with about 10-15 pages in analysis per).
