Rich Dad's Guide to Investing: What the Rich Invest in That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!

Rich Dad's Guide to Investing
Warner Books | 2001-01 | ISBN: 0759581398 | 403 pages | PDF | 4,4 MB

The rich are different from the rest of us, if for no other reason than U.S. tax and securities laws allow them to invest in ways that keep us from catching up to them. That's why 90 percent of all corporate shares of stock are owned by 10 percent of the people. Kiyosaki believes it's possible for anyone to move up into that 10 percent, but it takes a different view of investing than most people have: it takes a plan to be a successful investor. And a plan is more than simply buying and selling, or collecting "assets" that bring in no cash and are thus more akin to liabilities. The way most people invest, "they might as well be pushing a wheelbarrow in a circle," he writes. A plan is "mechanical, automatic, and boring," a formula for success that has worked historically for most of those who've used it. Kiyosaki's "rich dad" (actually, the father of his best friend) tells him the simplest analogy is the game Monopoly: buy four green houses, trade them for one red hotel, and repeat until you become rich. The overall message of Rich Dad's Guide to Investing is that this is an abundant world, full of opportunity for the sophisticated investor. However, it sometimes takes a while to find this point.

Maintaining and Evolving Successful Commercial Web Sites
Morgan Kaufmann | 2002-12-10 | ISBN: 1558608303 | 442 pages | CHM | 1,9 MB

Ashley Friedlein's first book, Web Project Management: Delivering Successful Commercial Web Sites, became a bestseller and an essential reference for Web professionals developing new sites. Maintaining and Evolving Successful Commercial Web Sites addresses the realities of successful sites today, namely the notion that maintaining and evolving a site is actually a bigger commitment than launching it. Management wants to maximize returns and obtain reliable performance data, customers demand better service and insist on sites that are more advanced yet easier to use, and the Web site must increasingly be integrated with the entire business even as the amount of information it handles continues to grow.

IAS 2003
John Wiley & Sons | 2003-02 | ISBN: 0471322741 | 1040 pages | PDF | 9,1 MB

International Accounting Standards (IAS–with future pronouncements to be known as International Financial Reporting Standards, or IFRS) are receiving more attention than ever, having now been endorsed by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and, most recently, by the European Union. The EU will require that listed companies throughout the European Union apply IAS, instead of previously employed national accounting standards, by 2005, for consolidated financial reporting purposes (and since comparative financials are required, users will generally need to begin this exercise in 2003, as a practical matter). These two events–coupled with the growing list of nations either formally adopting IAS or basing national standards on them, and with the ever-expanding group of major international companies choosing to report on that basis of accounting–will likely provide the impetus necessary to catapult IAS into truly global use and acceptance.
