The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci (Oxford World's Classics)
Oxford University Press | 1999-01-28 | ISBN: 0192838970 | 432 pages | PDF | 2,8 Mb
Nothing of Leonardo DAVinci's sketchbooks were published until the 20th century. These are some of the most important documents of the Renaissance, and they did not become known until the 20th century. There are still people who do not know how important this work was. His anatomical studies were a watershed moment, because they introduced visual diagrams as the standard for communicating knowledge of the body and self. This was no more and no less than the conviction that the true knowledge of the shape of any body could only be arrived at by seeing it from different aspects. The truth of the body, the truth of the human being can only be discovered by looking at the body from multiple aspects, like; level, motion, perspective, transformation and growth. He opened up the body, it had always been closed, now its open. Now, what goes on inside the body is going to give us the essence of what it means to be human. It is the internal struggle, the self with the self, within .you. When you look at his sketchbooks, you see just one place where the whole world opens up.

Taking Shape: A New Contract Between Architecture and Nature
Architectural Press | 240 pages | ISBN :0750649488 | March 19, 2001 | PDF | 10 Mb
'In recent times, the architecture/nature discussion has encouraged a dual response: architects have built in the image of nature - a token environmentalism - while environmentalists have focused too narrowly on the technologies of ecology and sustainability, invariably without paying sufficient attention to spatial and visual issues. In this book, Hagan argues for a new relationship between architecture and nature: a contract that renegotiates the tension between environmental processes and their formal consequences. 'Taking Shape' makes a major and provocative contribution to the debates concerning the ethics and aesthetics of environmentalism within architecture and urban design.'

Space Grid Structures
Architectural Press | 180 pages | 0750632755 | December 28, 1999 | PDF | 6 Mb
Description: A space frame is a three-dimensional framework for enclosing spaces in which all members are interconnected and act as a single entity. A benefit of this type of structure is that very large spaces can be covered, uninterrupted by support from the ground. John Chilton's book provides an up-to-date assessment of the use of space grid structures in buildings by reviewing methods of construction, various systems available and detailed studies of the use of space grids in modern buildings. The technical level is aimed at professional and student architects and engineers worldwide and it also serves as a useful construction manual.
